TAE KWON DO FOR KIDS

girl wearing Tae Kwon Do uniform and looking confident

A confident child who can hold their own in a conversation. A respectful child who listens when another speaks. A resilient child who gets up after setbacks. A resourceful child who is able to solve problems. A disciplined child who does what is necessary. A focused child who stays on task. A caring child who encourages others.

A child you can trust to make wise decisions.

Let Axon Martial Arts Academy partner with you to help your children fulfill their potential.

More Than Just Martial Arts

The physical training of martial arts--balance, strength, flexibility, preconception , stamina--contribute to a healthy body.

The training on mental focus translates to kids who pay more attention in general and who learn better, especially subjects that are intricate and require deeper thinking.

But those are not all. They are not even the most important part of what we teach.

Life-skills

Courtesy, perseverance, resilience, discipline, self-direction: these skills are practiced regularly in class to support you in equipping your children with what they need to be confident and respectful citizens of society.

Learning habits

We teach students not just what to learn but how. Breaking a project into smaller parts, being patient with focused repetition, learning how to solve problems: these are skills that transfer to being lifelong learners.

Long-term

At Axon Martial Arts, we are careful to balance meeting current needs with contributing to long-term success. The habits built and life-skills acquired while learning TKD will belong to the students forever.

CHILDREN'S PROGRAM: DESCRIPTIONS

TIGERS

This is for 4-6 year-olds, who are ready to acquire skills such as paying attention and socializing but who still need to move and to learn by active exploring.

The Axon Tigers program balances these two needs in developmentally appropriate ways, to help your children transition into their school years by creating a positive environment for them to grow and have fun.

Tigers start in the Foundations program and attend 2 classes a week with rank advancement testings and graduation approximately every 12 weeks. Progress checks are scheduled every 3 months to determine a Tiger's readiness to join the Karate Kids program.

KARATE KIDS

The physical and cognitive skills of children ages 7-12 are primed to learn the skills that will have a lasting impact on their lives.

The discipline acquired through martial arts start to be internalized even at this young age. The positive and safe environment at Axon Martial Arts Academy provides the most natural way to learn about respect.

Every Karate Kid starts in the Foundations program and attends two classes a week, in which they will learn

  • Tae Kwon Do technique and forms
  • life skills
  • basic self defense
  • traditional and combat-weapon sparring

Testing and graduation for rank advancement take place approximately every 8 weeks. Progress checks are scheduled at 3-month intervals to determine if a Karate Kid is ready to join the Leadership program.

LEADERSHIP

The Leadership Program offers students personal development through advanced training that accelerates their martial arts as well as leadership skills.

Every student enrolled in the Foundations Program who show desire and readiness for a higher level of training is invited to apply.

The exclusive curriculum includes additional training in martial arts-- weapons, advance kicks--and leadership skills-- public speaking, citizenship, habit-formation.

Leadership student attend a leadership class every week in addition to their TKD classes.

Axon Academy values individualized training and offers one private lesson every month, not something you would find in comparable programs in other martial arts schools.

Leadership students are eligible to earn points at tournaments and championship titles and apply for college scholarships from the H. U. Lee Foundation.

The breadth and depth of the leadership program requires the minimum of three years to complete. Students register one year at a time with progress checks at least every 6 months to determine if the program continues to be a good fit. Most students stay much longer or they transition to the ATA Legacy program.
